Last week, an OPPO F9 variant carrying the model number CPH1823 had surfaced on the Geekbench database packing a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and 6GB of RAM while another variant of the upcoming F series smartphone has now appeared online, this time carrying the CPH1825 model number. While the CPH1825 version also runs on a Helio P60 chipset, there is one key difference. The F9 is expected to debut in Vietnam on August 15 while the F9 Pro will be launched in India on August 21.

OPPO F9: CPH1825 Variant Shows Up on Geekbench Database

As we mentioned above, the OPPO CPH1825 version of the F9 runs on a MediaTek MT6771V/W octa-core processor, better known as the Helio P60. This is the same chip that powers the OPPO F7 and also the budget-oriented RealMe 1. In the memory department, however, the CPH1825 version includes “just” 4GB of RAM instead of 6GB on the CPH1823. This is not surprising, of course, as the leaked spec sheet of the OPPO F9 we shared with you recently had confirmed that the F9 will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants.


In India, however, we expect OPPO to launch the F9 as the F9 Pro in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. On the software front, the OPPO CPH1825 listing confirms the smartphone will debut with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1 out of the box. As for performance, the prototype F9 managed to score 1503 points in the single-core test and 5713 points in the multi-core test. For reference, the CPH1823 variant of the F9 had managed a score of 1481 in the single-core test and 5673 points in the multi-core test.




OPPO F9: Specifications, Features

The OPPO F9 will come with a large 6.3-inch TFT LCD display featuring a unique waterdrop notch design and 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution. As discussed above already, the F9 will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor under the hood coupled with either 4GB of 6GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the F9 will include 64GB of onboard storage and a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion.


Moving on to optics, the OPPO F9 will feature a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the back with AI-assisted features and a 25MP selfie snapper on the front. OPPO has paired the primary 16MP snapper with an f/1.85 aperture, while the 25MP AI selfie camera on the front of the device will be coupled with an f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity-wise, the F9 will have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB OTG, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on will be a 3500mAh capacity battery, slightly larger than the 3400mAh cell inside the F7. In addition to a slightly bigger cell, the F9 will also come with OPPO VOOC fast charging support. The company claims users can get two hours of talk time from just five minutes of charging. In terms of physical size, the OPPO F9 measures 156. X 74.0 x 7.99mm and weighs in at 168 grams. The smartphone will be available in Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, and Starry Purple colors.


OPPO F9 Pro: Expected Price in India

The OPPO F9 Pro is expected to be priced at around Rs.30,000 in India. Since it offers a few key upgrades over the F7 it could prove to be a decent option for OPPO fans looking for something a little better than the F7. However, others may not be too keen on spending close to Rs.30,000 when there are much better options like the ASUS ZenFone 5Z available on the market.
